Celebration, FL

Organized in downtown Celebration, the Jaguar Club of Florida Concours attracted about 35 Jaguars this year, all displayed on Market Street which had been closed off for the occasion.

Celebration is a cute little town, almost picture perfect with everything planned and arranged in a very unique way. When you first drive in the Disney Corp. developed town on the outskirts of the attraction park, it almost feels like you drove right into the Magic Kingdom : the architecture, the fences, the storefronts, the lake, the trees,... everything is just where it's supposed to be and the way it's supposed to be. Rumor has it that the town rules as pretty complex, even dictating the color of the curtains people are allowed to hang in their living room !

When you think about it, Celebration is kind of like a 100 points Concours car :  almost too perfect to be used !

Speaking of near perfect cars, some of the cars on display were just as close to perfection as the town,  especially  SFJC member Frank Rubino's XK120, a perfect restoration which has received many awards in the past.

Two other SFJC members had made the trip to Central Florida, Pascal Gademer with his silver XKR Coupe and Russel Glace with his latest "child", a white XK 140 racer which is now almost finished and which we all hope to see in action soon.

Of course, the Concours attracted a varied selection of E-types, XKs and salons, some of them familiar faces from the past, others new proud owners.

As usual, the Jaguar Club of Florida did a great job organizing the event and making all feel welcome; one plus this year was the choice of the newly opened Celebration hotel as the host hotel located right next to the Concours site. The only glitch was clearly beyond the club's control,  the weather which remained overcast and threatening... a picture spoiler !

For those of you who missed this opportunity, the next regional event is the Suncoast Jaguar Club Concours scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 30th in Sarasota. A group of cars will caravan to the Concours, see the calendar for details.
