At Riverwalk

Comes the first sunday of each month, the scenic Riverwalk in downtown Ft Lauderdale comes alive with Jazz with 5 band stand playing a a variety of Jazz along the river.

It attracts a large crowd and the wide street in front of the Museum of Science was the perfect location to exhibit a selection of Jaguar and Six Decades of Jaguars was the theme chosen by Chris Canning who was the eventmeister for the day... The city of Ft Lauderdale and Riverwalk had blocked that section so that we could use it for our dispaly. The Museum of Sciences provided a nice backdrop and plenty of shade to sit in...

Some 19 cars were brought by members,   indeed covering the six decades thanks to Tony Hildebrand who brought his rare 1949  Alloy bodied XK120 roadster. At the other end of the spectrum, for the 2000-2010 decade, Chris Canning new 2002 X-type represented the latest from Coventry. In the center of the display, Marie Yeamans had set up her boutique with club merchandise but also various Jaguar items.

It was hot but the group found some excellent shade and formed their own cats den in chairs under the trees drinking their libations and sharing stories with a lot of people meeting members they never knew before. Near the end and while people were packing up at 3PM, the Blue Angels flew over on their way to Air and See Show just across the intracoastal...great show.. The finally Pat Cowan was given a warm sendoff in her 2000 S-Type as she is heading back north for the summer.

It turned out to be a nice day for all that attended, between the Jazz bands, food stands or restaurants serving brunch along the River and a nice occasion to get together.
