Blast
from the Plast at City Place 2002
By Russell Glace
Our host, Mr. Kendall Ramsey, personally greeted us early Sunday and made us all feel welcome throughout the day. As we entered, we received our entry number and certificate, as well as a complimentary gift bag filled with giveaways from our host. In the bag was a ticket for two for complimentary food and beverage that was served all day at the beautiful Harriett Theater, the hub of City Place.
This year City Place trained their own staff as judges for the event. Kendall had arranged to send his team of judges to our friends at "Ragtops" in West Palm Beach to learn the finer points of overall judging of all sorts of American and foreign entries. The results of the judging revealed a variety of fine automobiles with our own Randy Smedley, winning with this beautiful 67 "E" type. I, as a head judge for our J.C.N.A. Concour took this opportunity to hold an informal training session on Sunday. In attendance were seven of our members, three with previous training and four new members. For our Concour I will need a minimum of twenty judges, each team of three for champion and two for driven having an experienced team leader.
At our concours, our own Marie Louise Yeaman will have the challenge of outdoing her own City Place display. The presentation she provided at this Labor Day show was equal to any of the fine shops at City Place. Not only does our boutique display Jaguar inspired gifts and clothing, it also serves as a magnet to attract new members and fellowship. At this years Blast From the Past" Marie and her team of volunteers gave away all of the "Cats Meow" newsletters that we had on hand and had numerous requests for new membership. All in all, this years "Blast From the Past" was a great success. We look forward to next years event.
